Roger D. Miller, 64, Oblong, Illinois passed away at 1:00 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012, at the Lakeland Nursing Home, Effingham, Illinois. Born in Yale, Illinois, on August 18, 1947, he was the son of Nova Orlin Miller and Nellie Agnes (Short) Miller. He attended Newton Community High School. He worked for Briggs Pottery, Robinson, Illinois as a castor; he was currently working in production at Stevens Industries, Teutopolis, Illinois. His hobbies included fishing, mushroom hunting, woodworking, collecting John Deere toy tractors, yard work and gardening.
Roger is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Leasa & Kendall Johnson, Jamie & Chris Ochs and Laura & John Birch; seven grandchildren, Emilee Johnson, Peighton Arnone, Xander Ochs, Christopher Jones, Andrew Ochs, Tiffany Birch and Garrett Birch; one brother and sister-in-law, Paul & Cindy Miller; two sisters, Alice Wever and Janet Adams; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Keith & Kathy McCoy. Roger was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John and Lloyd Miller.
Pastor Phil Boyd will officiate the funeral service. Burial will be in the Mound Cemetery, rural Jasper County, Illinois.
